Marrow-spoon. This is an adaptation of this trefid/rat-tail spoon with a hollowed out stem. It was created and used to extract the bone fragments marrow from cooked bone, this being regarded as a delicacy. Medicine spoons are generally from the 18th and 19th century. Often double ended with a different dose scale on each end. There is also the caster-oil spoon that created a closed recepticle using a hollow handle. This allowed the giver of the dose to restrict the flow of caster-oil until the recipient has got the bowl in the mouth. Cooking... what is this? Well my description is, this is the process of making use of heat to raw foodstuff thus changing the physical state of it. This modified state renders it even more tender, palatable and hence easier absorbed into our digestive systems.
